Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Coder to join our team at NALHN's Lyell McEwin and Modbury Hospitals. As a key member of our Corporate Services Division, you will be responsible for allocating ICD-10-AM codes to inpatient episodes of care, providing coding and documentation advice to clinicians, and ensuring accurate recording of clinical and morbidity data.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Ensure accurate, timely, and detailed abstraction and classification of inpatient episodes of care onto relevant Hospital databases, following established State and National guidelines and coding standards.
  2. Provide support to medical and other clinical personnel to ensure correct allocation of ICD-10-AM diagnoses and procedure codes.
  3. Evaluate patient information from various sources, including Sunrise and associated computer systems, to ensure accurate coding of inpatient data.
  4. Demonstrate expertise in APC data collection process, definitions, and procedures, as well as Activity Based Funding and DRG principles.

Requirements
  • HIMAA coding course completion and demonstrated competency in ICD-10-AM coding.
  • National Police Certificate (NPC) for employment involving unsupervised contact with vulnerable groups.
