About the Role

The successful applicant will work collaboratively with participants to build and enhance psychosocial skills, including communication, problem-solving, and social engagement.

  • Provide compassionate support to participants, assisting them in managing challenges with empathy and fostering resilience.
  • Work closely with participants to develop and implement strategies for de-escalation and redirection of behaviours.
  • Encourage and support participants in achieving personal goals and enhancing their independence in alignment with their NDIS plans.
  • Deliver culturally appropriate and respectful services, recognising and valuing the diverse backgrounds of participants.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support participants in engaging in recreational and community activities that promote social inclusion and emotional well-being.
  • Provide safe and reliable transport for participants to attend appointments, social activities, and other engagements.
  • Assist with household tasks, including cleaning, meal preparation, and maintaining a safe and comfortable living environment.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with participants, their families, team members, and allied health professionals.
  • Document shift notes, incident and observation reports promptly and accurately after each shift.
Requirements
  • A current NDIS Worker Screening Check or ability to obtain one.
  • Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module, 'NDIS Quality, Safety & You.'
  • A valid National Police Check issued within the last three months.
  • A current First Aid Certificate obtained within the last three years.
  • A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) for paid employment in NSW.
  • Candidates must hold a valid driver's licence and have access to a fully insured and roadworthy vehicle.
  • Experience with supporting individuals with psychosocial disabilities, including skills in de-escalation and emotional support.
  • A strong understanding of and respect for the diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds of participants.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for accurate documentation, incident reporting, and collaboration.
  • The ability to effectively manage unpredictable situations and behaviours.
