Regional Airports Manager Role

We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Regional Airports Manager to join our team at Virgin Australia. As a key member of our airport operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective operational delivery of our customer strategy across our regional and international airports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage airport operations teams to achieve commercial and operational results, with a critical focus on safety and customer experience outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with ground handlers, airport authorities, and other stakeholders to deliver exceptional outcomes.
  • Manage operational outcomes against set contractual KPIs, working collaboratively with commercial partnerships managers.
  • Effectively communicate and engage with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, including executive and senior leadership teams.
  • Identify and mitigate business risks, including safety occurrences, OTP, business resilience, and customer service delivery requirements.
  • Lead and own all safety-related events, ensuring compliance with Virgin Australia's Safety Management System.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in ground handling operations within aviation.
  • Significant experience in stakeholder engagement across multiple organizations, including ground handlers, airport authorities, government agencies, and regulators.
  • Experience with holding third-party providers accountable to SLAs (Service Level Agreements).
  • Experience with SMS frameworks and aviation safety and security management.
  • Proven time management skills to manage multiple and conflicting priorities while delivering strong outcomes.
  • Experience in conducting business analysis and making recommendations to positively impact customer, operational, safety, and commercial outcomes.
  • Awareness of domestic and international airport regulatory environments.
  • A great team player with inspirational, self-motivated, and highly professional qualities, with emotional intelligence and the ability to read, monitor, and understand behaviors and respond effectively to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to change and learn in evolving environments.
  • Ability to travel regularly and at short notice, both interstate and internationally, as required.
