Capability Analyst

We are seeking highly motivated and intelligent analysts to join our team and contribute to Australia's national security. As a key member of our Defence Preparedness Branch, you will play a critical role in ensuring our workforce, skills, and expertise are resilient and ready to respond quickly to national emergencies.
Defence Preparedness is a core business for Defence, and our team leads and coordinates readiness and sustainability across the Defence enterprise. We set requirements for the Australian Defence Force and the Department of Defence to ensure the appropriate preparations are in place to respond to national emergencies, ranging from conflict to natural disasters to humanitarian relief, as directed by Government.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the governance and policy development, engagement and communication, strategic planning, IT systems management, and secretariat for senior Steering Committees and Boards.
- Manage the requirements and capability analysis, initiatives, and assurance for preparedness of the current force-in-being.
- Manage the requirements and capability analysis, initiatives, and assurance for preparedness of the future integrated focused force.
- High level of writing skills to explain complex ideas clearly and succinctly to diverse audiences.
- Highly developed conceptual thinking and reasoning skills.
- High standard of time and task management skills to work to deadlines and effectively adjust to changing priorities.
- High standard of communications skills and ability to build and maintain constructive professional relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in risk assessment, quality analysis of mixed data sets, and insights of complex analytical problems.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known as the Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability.
