Job Title: Mental Health Occupational Therapist

This is a frontline role involving working closely with Veterans and their families to navigate mental health challenges, rebuild independence, and improve quality of life. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive functional, psychosocial, and mental health assessments for Veterans and families.

The role involves designing and implementing evidence-based treatment plans that promote recovery, resilience, and meaningful participation in daily life. This includes delivering one-on-one, group, and family-based interventions focused on emotional regulation, coping strategies, and practical skill-building.

Providing trauma-informed care to support those impacted by PTSD, anxiety, depression, and service-related challenges is also a key aspect of the role. The successful candidate will need to have expertise in functional assessment, activity-based intervention, and trauma-informed care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive functional, psychosocial, and mental health assessments for Veterans and families.
  • Design and implement evidence-based treatment plans that promote recovery, resilience, and meaningful participation in daily life.
  • Deliver one-on-one, group, and family-based interventions focused on emotional regulation, coping strategies, and practical skill-building.
  • Provide trauma-informed care to support those impacted by PTSD, anxiety, depression, and service-related challenges.
Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Occupational Therapy and have current AHPRA registration. They will also have strong clinical reasoning, report writing, and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment.

A deep understanding of the unique psychosocial and functional challenges faced by Veterans and their families is essential for this role. The successful candidate will need to be able to work effectively with Veterans and their families, as well as other healthcare professionals.
