Hardware Engineering Leadership Opportunity

This senior role is responsible for driving and enhancing national hardware engineering capability across people, processes, tools, and training.

You will guide a team of engineers, strengthen engineering governance, and advocate for the needs of teams and individuals to deliver on important Defence programs.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Drive and develop Hardware Engineering capability across people, processes, tools, and training.
  • Manage resources across programmes, ensuring alignment to business priorities.
  • Partner with programme leadership on execution, delivery, and review of hardware engineering work packages.
  • Support bids and proposals, ensuring technical excellence and innovation.
  • Provide functional governance, driving consistency and best practice.
  • Mentor and inspire individuals to achieve their potential, fostering a strong team culture.
  • Deliver effective communication and feedback channels between staff and leadership.
  • Lead induction, probation, and performance management processes.
About You

You are an accomplished leader with the ability to empower individuals and guide teams towards achieving complex programme goals. You bring a balance of technical expertise and people leadership, with a proven ability to deliver results in high-stakes environments.

  • Extensive experience leading and mentoring technical teams.
  • Strong background in hardware engineering within acquisition and sustainment programmes.
  • Advanced leadership skills with the ability to drive innovation and lead change.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships across all levels of an organisation.
  • Track record of successful programme execution in hardware capability.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline from a recognised institution, and/or equivalent relevant experience.
  • An Australian NV-1 security clearance and ability to access/handle Export Controlled technology, data, and information.
