As a seasoned Heritage Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in leading our team to deliver exceptional outcomes for our clients. We are seeking an experienced professional to join our Melbourne-based team, where you will apply your expertise to drive innovative solutions across Aboriginal and historical archaeology projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop an understanding of site patterning, land and site formation processes on the locations and survival of artefacts for both Aboriginal and historical sites.
  • Contribute to the preparation of Cultural Heritage Management Plans (CHMPs), heritage impacts statements and due diligence assessments.
  • Lead and participate in fieldwork projects across both Aboriginal and historical archaeological projects.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and consultation skills with relevant authorities, communities, clients, landowners, and the public, in relation to own projects.
  • Prepare technical reports and develop an understanding of different types of reports required.
  • Deliver projects efficiently, within set timelines and meeting client requirements while upholding high standards.
  • Stay updated on current regulatory requirements and their impact on our work, able to explain to existing clients.

  • A tertiary degree in a relevant cultural heritage practice (archaeology or cultural heritage management).
  • Recognition as a Heritage Advisor and qualified to supervise Complex Assessment in accordance with the Minister's Guidelines.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in consulting archaeology.
  • Full working rights in Australia.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing technical reporting, including CHMPs.
  • Exceptional communication skills with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel for projects across Victoria when required.
