Environmental Safety Coordinator

About the Role

As an Environmental Safety Coordinator, you will play a key role in developing and implementing risk assessment and management strategies to ensure the safety and well-being of employees, customers, and the environment. You will work closely with the Safety/Environment/Training Superintendent to identify and mitigate potential risks, and develop and implement effective solutions to minimize environmental impacts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead safety risk reduction activities on site, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, observations, and critical risk inspections to identify areas for improvement.
  • Manage contractor activities, ensuring they are aware of and comply with safety and environmental procedures.
  • Assist in the roll-out of corporate safety compliance activities, ensuring all employees are aware of and understand their responsibilities.
  • Implement strategies to prevent environmental impacts, including waste reduction and removal processes.
  • Conduct monthly environmental compliance activities and reporting to maintain compliance.
  • Oversee environmental incident investigations and ensure effective corrective action closeout.
  • Lead resource sustainability projects to achieve cost savings through energy reduction and water management.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Engineering/Sciences or a related field.
  • Studying or completed Cert IV or diploma in safety.
  • Relevant management experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • Experience in the management and implementation of environmental legislative standards.
  • Lead Auditor trained and contractor management experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, influence, and engage with all levels of the business.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
