The role of a School Psychologist at St Hilda's School is a vital position that plays a key part in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of students.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and skilled professional to join our dynamic community, which supports student and staff wellbeing and professional growth.

As a School Psychologist, you will be responsible for providing psychological support and counselling to individual students and groups, working closely with parents, teachers, and school leadership to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing counselling to students and their families experiencing social, emotional, physical or academic concerns
  • Conducting assessments of student needs and devising strategies to enhance welfare and education outcomes
  • Liaising with staff to ensure holistic support for students and delivering preventative mental health programs
  • Providing risk and safety assessments and referrals to external health professionals
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date notes and files
Requirements:
  • Formal qualifications at Degree level in psychology with post-graduate qualifications in educational psychology, child and adolescent psychology, student counselling or school psychology desirable
  • Experience working in a school environment, with adolescents or liaising with schools an advantage
  • Evidence of general registration with Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • Current First Aid, CPR and Mental Health First Aid Qualifications or willingness to obtain prior to commencement
  • Occasional after-hours work may be required as we are a boarding school
