Melbourne, Victoria, Australia beBeeLand Full time $110,000 - $130,000
Global Land Restoration Advocate

  • Come join a pioneering team that's driving large-scale land restoration initiatives globally. We're committed to regenerating 1 billion hectares of degraded land by scaling up Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) – a simple, effective solution capable of revitalizing land and lives.

The Global Land Restoration Advocate will play a crucial role in inspiring widespread adoption of FMNR by external organisations, institutions, and networks. This position is about creating excitement and belief in FMNR as a ready-to-use solution to pressing global challenges: land degradation, climate change, food insecurity, and rural poverty.

By engaging and influencing organisations beyond our network, the role will inspire others to adopt FMNR at scale – within their own programming, delivery models, or policy agendas – thereby accelerating the restoration of large areas of degraded land globally.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Leading the strategic approach to catalysing others to restore millions of hectares of degraded land through scaling FMNR
  2. Building trusted relationships that lead to FMNR adoption, advocacy, and long-term collaboration and acting as a credible, enthusiastic advocate for FMNR
  3. Creating and delivering compelling narratives that excite stakeholders and demonstrate how FMNR can help them meet their goals for climate resilience, food security, and community development
  4. Identifying and tracking a range of external organisations whose goals align with FMNR and have an ability to restore significant areas of degraded land
  5. Rapidly assessing and mapping how external organisations operate – including their strategy, delivery models, and goals
  6. Providing clear, adaptable advice on how FMNR can be integrated into other organisations' systems and practices
  7. Curating or adapting high-quality resources, toolkits, case studies, learning materials, training courses, reporting systems that help adopters to easily take up FMNR
  8. Sharing evidence, success stories, and field-level insights that show FMNR's relevance and credibility with adopters

Required skills and qualifications include:

  • Minimum 5 years in a role that could include: natural resource management, land restoration, climate-smart agriculture, or FMNR programs
  • Working with or advising NGOs, governments, UN agencies, or multilateral programs
  • Cross-sector engagement (e.g. public-private partnerships, research-to-policy, global-local scaling)
  • Demonstrated experience in external engagement, influencing or advisory roles and partnership management
  • Strong understanding of FMNR principles and applications and climate-smart agriculture and nature-based solutions
  • Agile and problem-solving mindset
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (Masters degree in environmental management, agroforestry, climate adaptation/mitigation, development studies)

Benefits include:

  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Opportunity to work with a dynamic, experienced team
  • Professional growth and development opportunities
  • Collaborative, inclusive work environment

Others:

  • Join a team that is bold and courageous, and where job satisfaction goes beyond financial reward.
