We are seeking a skilled Social Worker to join our team at Mount Gambier Prison. As a Social Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting the wellbeing and rehabilitation of offenders.

Key responsibilities

  • ">
  • Conduct risk assessments for new prisoners, including those with mental health concerns or who may have recently been under the influence.">
  • Provide counselling and support to female prisoners shortly after their arrival.">
  • Co-facilitate the "Making Changes" rehabilitation program with other staff members.">
  • Collaborate with Case Management Coordinators and contribute to case reviews and individualised case plans.">
  • Assist prisoners with pre-release planning, including housing applications and connecting them with support services.">
  • Take inbound phone calls from members of the public who have concerns about prisoners.">

Requirements

  • ">
  • Completion of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work.">
  • Eligibility for registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers.">
  • A current driver's licence or probationary licence.">
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.">
