The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Birth Centre provides exceptional midwifery care for women and their families during pregnancy, labour, and birth, as well as the postnatal period.

Midwives work in a collaborative team model, caring for 450 low-to-moderate risk pregnant women each year. They provide comprehensive antenatal care from the initial visit at 14 weeks, intrapartum care in the Birth Centre or Delivery Unit, and postnatal care for mothers and babies up to 14 days after birth.

Key responsibilities include providing postnatal care in the home, requiring a current and valid driver's license. A commitment to achieving an intervention-free birth is essential, with successful applicants demonstrating their dedication to this principle during the interview process.

  • Essential Requirements:
  • Current midwifery registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • Demonstrated commitment to person-centred care and NSW Health Core Values
  • A current NSW Driver's Licence (P1 and P2 acceptable) is highly desirable
  • Ability to participate in a seven-day roster
