As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and accurate administration and enforcement of Council's Local Law with relation to its regulation of building compliance, Local Law, Footpath Trading and associated activities.


You will be responsible for providing effective organisation of regulatory documentation for evidence-based compliance matters, enforcement, record keeping, administration and customer responses.


You will monitor building-related activities in the street environment with a focus on improved building control, safety and general amenity in order to achieve a level that suits the expectations of the customer and the broader community.


You will ensure compliance with the Council's Local Law and other State Legislation applicable to the maintenance of amenity for the Stonnington community.


You will also:



• Manage issues of general amenity disturbance and assist other Compliance Officers in matters relating to notification, education, investigation, enforcement, and prosecution.

• Provide a courteous, high-quality service to customers, and internal and external stakeholders at all levels.


This is a permanent full-time position with an annual salary range and benefits that align with Council's values.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of compliance and evidence-based regulatory matters.
  • Effective organisation and administrative management skills for evidence-based compliance matters, to ensure efficient and effective assessment of local law permits.
  • Values-based approach to working within a team and as a representative for Council, dealing with internal & external customers in a clear, considerate, and professional manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and consistently meet deadlines.
  • A strong customer focus with demonstrated ability to communicate to a wide range of culturally diverse customers.
