Job Description

As a Linux Kernel Engineer, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and distributing the Linux kernel for Ubuntu. This includes collaborating with a globally distributed team to integrate platform support into the Ubuntu Linux kernel for various silicon manufacturers.

You will work closely with silicon vendors like NVIDIA, Xilinx, MediaTek, and Qualcomm to resolve issues in the kernel and improve performance on partner silicon.

Additionally, you will take ownership of delivering silicon-optimised variants of the Ubuntu Linux kernel and contribute to tooling and automation improvements.

Lastly, you will submit, review, and apply kernel patches while working with internal and external upstream maintainers.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A well-organised and motivated self-starter with experience in C programming and a solid grasp of device drivers, BSPs, and other hardware-level system engineering aspects.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal, and proficiency in git, Python, and Bash scripting.
  • Prior experience with major SoC families, Ubuntu/Debian/Snap packaging, and demonstrated expertise in Linux kernel patching and debugging is an added advantage.
