Disease Research Support Specialist

The Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness is seeking an Animal Care Specialist to provide exceptional animal care and welfare services.
This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of infectious disease research, where your contributions directly support scientific breakthroughs and safeguard public health.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide expert animal husbandry and handling services
- Collect and manage samples and data from infected research animals
- Collaborate with scientists and veterinarians to achieve project goals
- Maintain rigorous quality assurance and biosafety standards
This position requires weekend and occasional shift work, and applicants must be medically and psychologically fit, security-cleared, and vaccinated for high-risk pathogens.
Requirements:- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (science, agriculture, veterinary, nursing)
- Prior experience with animal husbandry and handling a range of species
- Ability to work with animals infected with serious zoonotic disease agents
- Demonstrated ability to work productively and harmoniously in a team environment
