Transport Operations Director

Role Overview:

This senior leadership position oversees all aspects of transport operations, including strategic direction, technical expertise, and business development. As Transport Operations Director, you will lead a team to deliver high-quality solutions to clients across the entire project lifecycle.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to project delivery from feasibility studies to operational readiness.
  • Manage consultancy assignments, allocating tasks, estimating resources, planning execution, and ensuring close-out.
  • Verify that projects are undertaken by teams with relevant qualifications, expertise, and experience.
  • Prepare responses to tender opportunities, involving team members as needed.
  • Develop business plans to support identified initiatives and champion their implementation.
  • Establish a winning culture within the team, recording and managing the opportunity pipeline in CRM.
Key Requirements:
  • Degree qualified in a relevant subject.
  • Extensive experience in railway operations and maintenance, including ensuring operational readiness for major rail projects.
  • The ability to oversee and coordinate maintenance strategies, develop operational concepts, manage risks, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Excellent technical, project management, and communication skills to lead advisory engagements.
  • Able to establish and maintain client relationships.
  • Ability to engage with senior stakeholders and government representatives.
  • Adept at communicating complex ideas to non-specialists.
  • Support business growth in this sector through leveraging relationships with existing and future client contacts.
