Central Coast Local Health District is seeking dedicated professionals to join our inpatient team and help deliver exceptional health outcomes and psychosocial care.

About the Role

In this vital role, you will draw on your understanding of the complex emotional and social challenges that come with both acute and chronic illness. You will:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments.
  • Provide crisis support and short-term interventions tailored to individuals and their support systems.
  • Collaborate within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.

Your strong communication skills, adaptability, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment will be key to ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care. These roles offer the chance to deepen your expertise and broaden your experience across a wide range of social work practices in the hospital setting. From providing emotional support through grief and loss, to working closely with families and carers, and helping patients navigate transitions within the healthcare system, you will play a central role in supporting patients and their families during some of life's most challenging moments.

Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). A demonstrated understanding of the current AASW Practice Standards as they relate to Inpatient Social Work.
  • A well-developed understanding of the psychosocial issues that arise for patients and their families during chronic and acute illness and trauma. Preferably demonstrated social work experience in the clinical specialty area where applicable.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing assessment and crisis management, within person centred, trauma informed and brief intervention models and preferably within a health clinical setting and/or within the clinical specialty where applicable.
