We are seeking a highly skilled and organized medical receptionist to join our healthcare team at Kiama Doctors. Our ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and have experience with medical software.

The successful applicant will be responsible for managing patient records, scheduling appointments, and handling patient payments. They will also be expected to maintain accurate storage and retrieval of patient and practice records.

In addition to administrative tasks, the medical receptionist will provide exceptional customer service, respond to patient inquiries, and support the day-to-day operations of the medical centre.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Open and close clinic as per set procedure
  • Greet patients and other callers in a professional and courteous manner
  • Make appointments for patients
  • Manage medical records and ensure confidentiality
  • Process patient payments via cash, Eftpos, and direct bill transactions
  • Invoice Medicare, Private Health Funds, TAC, and Workcover
  • Maintain knowledge of MBS schedule and correct billing procedures
  • Deal with referring doctors, hospital staff, pharmacists, and other stakeholders courteously and helpfully
  • Respond to patient enquiries and provide information
  • Check and handle internal emails
  • Fulfill roster duties when staff is away or on leave
  • Maintain a clean and tidy reception area and consulting rooms
  • Ensure accurate storage and retrieval of patient and practice records
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient personal and financial information
  • Complete recalls and follow up with patients

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team
  • Experience with medical software (BEST PRACTICE/MEDICAL DIRECTOR)
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • Commitment to quality patient service
  • At least 1 year experience as a Medical Receptionist in a medical practice
