The Opportunity
We are seeking a Lead Asset Engineer (Specialist Transformer Engineer) on a full-time permanent basis to join our team and provide technical leadership for lifecycle management of substation primary equipment.
In this role, you will guide our team, serve as a subject matter expert, and drive an optimised maintenance strategy. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring that our substations operate at optimal performance and resilience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing technical leadership and guidance for the procurement, installation, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance of substation primary equipment
- Analysing asset performance data to identify potential failures and implementing corrective actions
- Leading or participating in investigations into substation primary asset failures, ensuring root cause analysis and appropriate corrective actions are taken
- Ensuring technical information and requirements are clearly communicated to internal and external stakeholders
- Providing interpretation of commissioning test data to ensure safe energisation and operation of substations
- Mentoring less experienced team members to enhance their technical skills and knowledge
- Contributing to the development and implementation of optimised maintenance strategies for substation primary equipment
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 10+ years' experience in the design, installation/commissioning, operations or maintenance of substation primary assets
- Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline
- Eligible for membership of Engineers Australia
- Understanding of asset life cycle management principles
- In-depth knowledge of substation primary equipment, performance, and operation
- Proven ability to lead technical teams and build relationships
- Expert understanding of HV assets & power transformer design, manufacturing and relevant standards
- Demonstrated ability in installation, commissioning, and testing
- Experience in reliability engineering (statistical analysis)
- Post-graduate management or business-related qualifications (desirable)
