About the Role:
The Claims Examiner - Personal Lines is a key position within Chubb's Claims Department, responsible for handling and resolving Personal Lines claims in a timely and professional manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of Personal Lines claims, analyzing first reports to determine the nature of the loss, coverage provided, and scope of damage.
- Assess claims in accordance with Chubb's service level and quality requirements, determining coverage, reserving within timeframes, making payments, responding to customer queries, and requesting additional information as needed.
- Communicate effectively with brokers, claimants, and other stakeholders through telephone and written correspondence.
- Promptly and properly document all developments on the claim workstation file.
- Participate in Claim Department and company-wide training as required.
- Seek technical assistance in handling claims exceeding delegated authority.
- Respond to enquiries and escalations of matters from underwriters, brokers, and customers, working with underwriters, the Compliance Department, and other departments as needed.
- Apply claims policies and procedures, including Chubb's policy on fraud, salvage, cost containment, and complaints.
- Exercise good judgment in reaching a final disposition of the claim, evaluating the nature of the loss, liability, damage, coverage provided, and applicable limits.
- Negotiate compromise settlements where appropriate.
- Participate in claims meetings with internal and external stakeholders as required.
- Effectively control the use, work product, and expense of outside vendors.
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification.
- Investigation techniques.
- Written and verbal communication related to claims handling.
- Insurance contracts.
- Legal requirements and regulations.
- Damage and/or loss evaluation.
- Negotiation skills.
- Litigation procedures.
- Reserving skills.
- Chubb claim philosophy.
- Capable of participating in audits.
