We are seeking an experienced Heavy Plant Mechanic and Fabricator to join our team, working in a fast-paced environment with diverse heavy plant and commercial vehicle fleet. The successful candidate will possess excellent mechanical skills, with experience in welding and fabrication, as well as a Motor Vehicle Repairer's Licence (automotive electrician or motor mechanic) and Motor Vehicle Tradesperson's Certificate.


About the Role


This permanent full-time position reports to the Workshop Supervisor, responsible for providing effective and efficient mechanical services involving the repair, servicing, and maintenance of Council's plant, equipment, and vehicle fleet.


The key responsibilities include undertaking general mechanical duties, diagnose, overhaul, repair, tune, and maintain diesel- and petrol-powered vehicles, plant, and equipment, performing regular technical inspections, and problem-solving issues.


Key Requirements



  • Experience in a similar role including the repair and maintenance of a diverse heavy plant and commercial vehicle fleet, welding, and fabrication
  • Motor Vehicle Repairer's Licence (automotive electrician or motor mechanic)
  • Motor Vehicle Tradesperson's Certificate
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
