The primary objective of the Cost Control Lead is to optimize project success by delivering against agreed program objectives. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Monitoring actual costs against budgeted figures and analyzing variances
  2. Preparing regular cost reports, forecasts, and financial summaries for stakeholders
  3. Developing and implementing cost control procedures to monitor and manage project expenses
  4. Understanding and knowledge of cost control systems like EcoSys, Prism, etc.
  5. Establishing and maintaining project budgets, ensuring alignment with financial goals
  6. Collaborating with project managers and finance teams to optimize cost efficiency
  7. Identifying cost-saving opportunities and recommending corrective actions
  8. Monitoring and controlling project expenditures, ensuring adherence to approved budgets
  9. Leading the preparation of cost estimates and supporting bid proposals
  10. Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and project contract requirements
  11. Developing and implementing Earned Value Management (EVM) systems to track project performance
  12. Analyzing project data to calculate EVM metrics
  13. Preparing reports based on EVM metrics to provide insights into project progress and performance

Requirements

  • Australian citizenship and ability to work in Adelaide
  • 10+ years of experience with a minimum of 5+ years working in a Cost Control/Project Controls role
  • Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience
  • Strong knowledge of Cost Control and Project Controls
  • Experience working in the infrastructure (marine, shipyards, civil) and the Defence sector
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects at various stages of delivery
  • Experience operating at various stages in the project lifecycle
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including coordination and communication
  • Self-motivated team player with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands
