GIS Team Lead

We are seeking an experienced GIS Team Lead to support our GIS practice in Community Development. This position will assist with internal and external GIS support, data management, and geospatial analysis.

The role is based in Wollongong office, offering flexible work arrangements, including work from home options, staggered hours, and part-time employment.

  • Lead and mentor a small team of skilled GIS specialists.
  • Execute all facets of GIS projects, including technical and non-technical aspects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate GIS solutions into broader organizational workflows.
  • Provide technical support to the GIS team and broader business.
  • Participate in core spatial tasks such as cartographic figure production, spatial database management, and ad-hoc GIS support.
  • Ensure allocated projects and proposals meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Develop GIS solutions to aid stakeholders, clients, and users in understanding relationships, patterns, and trends.

To be successful, you'll need:

  • Qualification in GIS, Geology, Geography, Geomatics, Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • 7 years' experience working preferably in consultancy.
  • Experience working with GIS platforms, ESRI software suite, ArcGIS Desktop, Portal for ArcGIS, and ArcGIS Online.
  • Creating online tools using ArcGIS Online Essential Apps and Field Apps.
  • FME and visual programming fundamentals for data manipulation desirable.
  • Passion for learning and developing new skills.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
