About the Role:

  • As a Caseworker, you will work effectively within a statutory environment to manage the dual roles of monitoring young offenders' compliance with court orders and intervening to address issues that place them at risk of re-offending.
  • You will proactively work to reduce re-offending through the use of culturally appropriate, collaborative and evidence-based assessment and intervention skills, processes and programs including restorative justice activities.
  • Working collaboratively as part of a team, you will achieve positive outcomes for victims, young offenders, their families and the community.
  • You will prepare and present verbal and written reports to support best practice outcomes for young people in the justice system.
  • Record keeping and information management tasks are also a key component of this role, ensuring accountability and transparency.
  • Active participation in ongoing professional development activities is essential to continuously improve your ability to contribute to organisational goals.
  • Demonstrating cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability is crucial to ensure an inclusive culture that supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in a related field, with a strong understanding of the principles and practices of casework.
