About the Company
Elite Executive is partnering with Carpentaria Shire Council to source an enthusiastic and community-minded Youth Services, Sport & Recreation Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the delivery of youth programs and manage sport and recreation facilities in one of Queensland's most unique and welcoming regions.
Carpentaria Shire, located on the iconic Savannah Way in Northwestern Queensland, is home to nearly 2,000 residents across Normanton and Karumba. The Shire offers modern infrastructure, medical and educational facilities, thriving sporting complexes and a strong sense of community. With a Council workforce of around 100 staff and a significant $70m annual budget, this is a community where your contribution will have real impact.
About the Role
As Youth Services, Sport & Recreation Coordinator, you will:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Shire's sport complexes, pools and waterparks.

- Promote healthy, active lifestyles across the region through collaboration with sporting groups and community organisations.
- Actively identify grant funding opportunities to grow and sustain programs.
This role is not just about managing facilities – it's about creating opportunities for young people to thrive and for the community to stay connected, active and engaged.
About you
We are seeking candidates who bring:
- Experience in youth services, recreation, or community program delivery.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
- The ability to engage effectively with young people, community groups, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

You will also hold (or have the ability to obtain):
- A current Working with Children Blue Card.
- A current C Class Driver's Licence.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- A Pool Lifeguard Certificate.
Benefits
This is a newly created permanent role that gives you the opportunity to make a real and lasting impact in a close-knit regional community. You'll play a key part in shaping youth services and recreation initiatives that directly influence the health and wellbeing of young people, while enjoying the support of a dedicated team and genuine opportunities for professional growth.
Beyond the rewarding nature of the work itself, this role also offers a lifestyle experience unlike any other, set in the heart of the Gulf of Carpentaria. A generous package is included, featuring an attractive base salary, super and subsidised housing ensuring you can truly settle into the community.
