Empower Young People

We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Peer Mentor, working closely with young people to help them achieve their goals and develop essential life skills.

The role involves providing one-on-one mentoring, facilitating group workshops, and connecting young people with cultural activities and supportive services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the personal growth and development of young people through individualized mentoring and group activities.
  • Collaborate with staff and partners to deliver youth-focused programs that promote culture and belonging.
  • Advocate for the rights and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth.
  • Work in partnership with Elders and community members to ensure the delivery of culturally responsive services.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training to enhance your skills and knowledge.

What We're Looking For:

  • A strong understanding of the challenges faced by young Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with young people.
  • A commitment to empowering young people and promoting their cultural identity.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Capacity to navigate complex situations and remain calm under pressure.
