Key Responsibilities
In this dynamic role, you will engage in various projects focused on improving building outcomes for the industry, practitioners, and consumers. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Formulating policy options that are accurate, relevant, and tailored to the intended audience, contributing to initiatives that align with government priorities in the building and plumbing sectors.
  • Delivering timely and effective policy and regulatory advice to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with colleagues, executives, and stakeholders to support overarching government and business unit objectives.
  • Preparing well-researched and timely responses for Ministerial briefings and correspondence.
  • Staying informed about national and international building policy trends and best practices.

Essential Skills and Experience
To excel in this position, you should possess hands-on experience in legal and regulatory policy related to civil and housing projects, alongside relevant government liaison experience. Your qualifications should include:

  • Proficient stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • A robust network of resources and relationships across relevant sectors.
  • A comprehensive understanding of policy design and development.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies effectively in daily tasks, including drafting policies and business cases in consultation with stakeholders.
  • Experience in conducting thorough analyses of data and evidence.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, enabling you to navigate issues through a deep understanding of existing guidelines.
  • Experience in preparing and delivering clear and concise presentations tailored to various audiences.

Qualifications
A tertiary qualification in law, public policy, economics, or a related field is highly desirable. Experience in the development and amendment of legislation or regulations within a public service context is also preferred.
