This is a fixed-term, full-time role for a Grade 1 Medical Scientist to join our laboratory at the Royal Children's Hospital.
About the Role:- The successful person will be responsible for performing laboratory duties in Haematology, Transfusion, and Specimen Reception as directed by the Principal Scientist.
- Rotation at the Core Laboratory may also be required as directed by the Principal Scientist.
- Perform routine and specialized diagnostic laboratory tests in Haematology and Transfusion after appropriate training.
- Maintenance and troubleshooting of automated and manual instrumentation and equipment within Haematology and Transfusion.
- Active participation in a rotational roster including early mornings, afternoons, and evening shifts.
- Adherence to standard operating techniques and procedures documented in laboratory manuals as required.
- Participation in Departmental continuing education and ongoing competency programs.
- Reporting opportunities for improvement and implementing initiatives to provide continuous workflow improvement.
- Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science), Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Laboratory Medicine) or equivalent.
- Demonstrated technical skills and knowledge.
- Professional attitude and interpersonal skills with ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Satisfactory police check and Working with Children check.
