Senior Electrical Design Engineer, APAC Data Center Design Engineering

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at Amazon, responsible for leading the electrical design of our data centers across the Asia Pacific region. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our data centers, while also contributing to the development of innovative solutions to enhance our market-leading reliability.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the electrical design of data centers, collaborating with cross-functional teams to create coordinated construction document sets.
- Participate in site selection reviews and critical data center equipment design, including site-wide MV infrastructure, generators, uninterruptible power supplies, switchgear, transformers, and earthing.
- Work with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify electrical equipment and with local utilities to understand and define site utility requirements.
- Ensure compliance with IEC requirements, APAC-wide design codes, and other jurisdictional requirements.
- Review and approve equipment submittals, define project scope, and provide technical support for information requests prior to and during construction phases.
- Collaborate with commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical systems.
- Travel to sites for site reviews and work with onsite field engineers, as well as provide engineering evaluations, electrical systems audits, and startup as needed.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering with a cumulative 6+ years of experience in mission-critical electrical design.
- Comprehensive understanding of various code requirements across the APAC region for critical MV and LV electrical equipment.
- Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and high-quality standards.
- Cross-discipline design coordination experience.
- Chartered Engineer or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience with delivering fast-track design/build projects and/or multiple significant upgrade projects in a multi-disciplined engineering environment.
- Ability to carry new design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment/construction.
- Ability and willingness to think outside the box to find creative and innovative solutions to reduce costs with no impact on quality, reliability, or maintainability.
