This position is designed to improve capacity to respond to alcohol and other drug presentations in the Emergency Department (ED). We are seeking a skilled professional to extend specialist AOD coverage in ED and DoAM Consultation and Liaison clients throughout the hospital.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Extend specialist AOD coverage in ED and DoAM Consultation and Liaison clients throughout the hospital.
  • Improve linkages across departments involved in providing services to clients with AOD issues.
  • Implement the AOD screening tool in ED.
  • Facilitate referrals to appropriate community-based services.
  • Provide AOD education and training within the emergency department.
  • Coordinate access to and follow-up for eligible clients.

The successful candidate will have expertise in Addiction Medicine and/or related fields, with a working knowledge of the SSDTA and the Victorian AOD service sector.

About this Role:

This is a blend of two roles funded under the Department of Health. The role requires collaboration with various teams to provide comprehensive care.

Requirements:
  • Nurse Practitioner – APHRA endorsed and registration which meets the registration requirements of the Nurses Board of Victoria in Division 1 or 3.
  • A minimum of 5 years clinical experience – preferably in the AOD or related sector.
  • Experience in Addiction Medicine and/or related fields.
  • Working knowledge of the SSDTA and the Victorian AOD service sector.
  • Current National criminal history check, or willingness to obtain.
