Job Description

This leadership role is pivotal in Uniting's Chaplaincy and Pastoral Practice team, providing spiritual and pastoral care to staff and clients across our services.

Working collaboratively with Presbyteries, Congregations, and the wider Church, you will help bring the Synod's mission and ministry strategies to life by fostering a culture of compassion and inclusivity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide Spiritual Care: Offer compassionate support to clients, families, volunteers, and staff, reflecting the Uniting Church's values while respecting diverse beliefs and traditions.
  • Lead Worship Services: Coordinate worship and services, including Uniting liturgies, sacraments, ecumenical, and interfaith services, and ensure visiting ministers are available when needed.
  • Support People in Need: Provide guidance, reconciliation, hope, and meaning in moments of suffering, crisis, or transition, helping individuals navigate challenging situations.
  • Develop Strong Relationships: Build effective partnerships with facility leaders, congregations, presbyteries, and volunteers to strengthen pastoral and spiritual services across Uniting.
  • Lead and Support a Team: Oversee a Chaplaincy Hub team (where applicable), ensuring staff and volunteers are well-equipped, supported, and resourced to deliver high-quality care.
  • Contribute to the Wider Church: Collaborate with the Synod and promote Uniting as part of the Church's mission, building effective partnerships that advance the organization's goals.
  • Ensure a Safe and Inclusive Environment: Model best practices in work health and safety, celebrating diversity in all its forms and fostering a culture of respect and empathy.
  • Ongoing Growth and Development: Engage in ongoing education, training, and supervision to enhance professional and spiritual growth.
