
Maritime Geospatial Data Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst to join our team in a role that supports the Defence sector.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in GIS and experience with maritime geospatial data. They will be responsible for managing and processing bathymetric data, performing spatial analysis, and providing specialist support to stakeholders.

About the Role
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Management and Processing: Consolidate bathymetric data holdings, review and ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency, edit point clouds and gridded data, and apply standardised attribution and metadata.
- Technical Analysis: Perform horizontal and vertical datum transformations, georeference scanned manuscript datasets, generate gridded outputs, conduct geospatial analysis, develop and apply new analytic methodologies, create data models optimised for visualisation and analysis, document procedures, and communicate results to diverse stakeholders.
Requirements
- Active security clearance (NV-1 preferred, Baseline acceptable)
- 3+ years of GIS experience with maritime geospatial background preferred
- Strong experience in spatial ETL functions and data integration
- Understanding of relational databases, data modelling, and spatial data types
Skills and Qualifications
- Knowledge of geospatial data best practices (integration, transformation, optimisation)
- Experience building spatial data models for analysis and visualisation
- Statistical analysis capabilities including geo-statistical methods
- Familiarity with CARIS software (beneficial but not essential)
Professional Qualities
- Strong workflow organisation and decision-making within defined parameters
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders
- Ability to provide specialist support informed by disciplinary knowledge
- Proactive approach to seeking guidance and sharing information
