Procurement Lead Job

A leading organisation seeks a seasoned procurement professional to drive strategic procurement activities nationwide.

This role focuses on delivering best-in-class procurement solutions, not tied to specific projects, and is ideal for a senior procurement expert with extensive knowledge in construction and infrastructure environments.

The successful candidate will contribute to the development of procurement strategies, support contract negotiations, and ensure compliance with established systems and standards.

  • Strategic Procurement Planning: Assist in developing and executing national procurement strategies aligned with engineering and project delivery goals.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and supply chain efficiencies.
  • Technical Input: Provide technical expertise into procurement planning and supplier selection processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contract & Supplier Management: Collaborate with suppliers to prepare, evaluate, and administer contracts. Ensure technical compliance and performance monitoring, escalating issues as needed.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with engineering, project, and commercial teams to understand procurement needs and technical specifications. Offer procurement insights and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  • Risk Awareness & Compliance: Ensure procurement activities adhere to legal, regulatory, and ethical standards. Identify potential risks in supply chains and support mitigation strategies.
  • Documentation & Process Improvement: Prepare and maintain procurement documentation, including technical evaluations and compliance records. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in procurement processes and systems.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in procurement within engineering, construction, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, contract administration, and supplier engagement.
  • Proficiency in tools such as SAP, Excel, and electronic document management systems.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across national teams.
