- Job Description
- Your primary responsibility is to support safe driving: modelling it, speaking about it, and helping young drivers practice and consolidate their skills. As part of this role, you will sit in the car with the young driver and assist in logging 120 hours of supervised driving required to sit the test.- In addition, you will provide constructive feedback, model respectful communication, patience, and clear boundaries. You will also demonstrate empathy, consistency, reliability, and promote safe and stable relationships.- Volunteers play a crucial role in the success of our program and participants; they will be providing much-needed on-going support and mentorship. To help set volunteers up for success, we provide extensive training, on-going support, and become a valued member of our team. We will also provide a fully equipped vehicle for driving sessions with the young driver.- Volunteering with us is an excellent opportunity to actively support a not-for-profit organisation. It will also help you gain experience, skills, and knowledge in a supportive environment. We care about our volunteers and are dedicated to ensuring your experience is both rewarding and memorable. You can go home every day knowing you've contributed to something special.- Required Skills and Qualifications- Enjoy working with young people.
- Ability to build trust and rapport with young people through effective communication and relationship building.

- Mandatory Requirements- Willingness to undertake a Criminal History Record Check (at our expense)
- Be over 21 years old
- Willingness to obtain a Working with Children Check
- Willingness to engage in training provided for the role
- Current unrestricted Driver Licence and 3 years safe driving record.
- Fully vaccinated
- Time Commitment- Willingness to engage in training provided
- 2 hours or more a week/fortnight
- 7 days flexible (Morning and Evening available)
- Minimum 3-month commitment

Development Opportunities- This role will give you the opportunity to develop mentoring, communication, and instruction skills. Moreover, develop positive relationships with at-risk young people.
The Salvation Army is a child-safe organisation and is committed to protecting children and young people from harm. All child-related roles will require the successful completion of a Working with Children Check.
