Software Development Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Software Development Specialist to join our team in Sydney. As a leading expert in software engineering, you will play a key role in driving innovation and expertise to the defense industry.

We are developing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to bring transformative solutions to military capabilities.

The team is comprised of diverse experts in artificial intelligence, computer vision, sensor fusion, optics, and data analysis. Together, we are working on unmanned systems for subsurface and other domains that leverage unsupervised autonomy for long-endurance, multi-mission capability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate user needs and contribute to software engineering teams that balance user expectations with external constraints and requirements.
  • Develop software-enabled solutions that deliver value to users, optimizing for rapid capability delivery.
  • Implement software that rapidly delivers capability beyond current platforms, with a clear path for architecture and capability evolution.
  • Contribute to the development of existing software services across multiple product lines, aiming to develop reusable components.
  • Develop software that runs on- and off-robotic platforms, using various technologies.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop and iteratively enhance vehicle and mission software, including full lifecycle testing, monitoring, and operation.
  • Create test and simulation fixtures that operate with both software- and hardware-in-the-loop.
  • Support vehicle manufacturing and deployment.
  • Travel up to 20% of the time to collaborate with end-users.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Professional experience working as a Software Engineer with one or more domains and/or technologies of competence.
  • Strong systems and/or application programming skills, including algorithms, data structures, concurrency, scaling, testing, and software design.
  • Experience troubleshooting and analyzing remotely deployed software systems.
  • Able to work holistically on software-enabled capabilities up and down the software stack and through the lifecycle.
  • Able to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance.
