Job Overview

The position of Strategic Financial Manager will play a crucial part in ensuring the operational sustainability of high-risk and/or high-value capital works projects on behalf of the Queensland Government.

This individual will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining financial governance frameworks, management systems, and reporting functions to support project management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Utilising enterprise accounting systems and MS Excel to streamline data collection and integration, ensuring data reliability and integrity.
  • Supporting budgetary and financial management activities to manage the capital works program and operational responsibilities.
  • Developing effective work procedures associated with financial management processes.
  • Contributing to business system development, improvement, and documentation.
  • Maintaining and reviewing system processes to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, and audit quality outcomes.
  • Fostering positive working relationships and partnerships with team members and stakeholders.
  • Providing advice, guidance, and training to ensure adherence to policies, standards, and established systems.
  • Assisting in managing the integrity of financial accounting records, data, and systems, ensuring compliance with standards and legislative requirements.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Business, or related fields preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management and reporting.
  • Advanced Excel competency and technical documentation writing skills.
  • Australian full working rights.
  • Ability to pass and hold a national police check.
