Job Title: Senior Legal Counsel

This is an opportunity for a senior legal counsel to join a global investment bank in the Australian market.

The ideal candidate will be a VP level financial markets lawyer with experience covering derivatives, FICC and/or swaps products.

The successful candidate will provide commercial legal advice on structuring complex financial products, work on regulatory and legal matters across various areas including financial services, corporate, commercial, competition, technology, intellectual property, information security, privacy, and marketing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide commercial legal advice on structuring complex financial products
  • Legal analysis of company obligations
  • Work on regulatory and legal matters across various areas
  • Responding to regulatory queries as required
  • Providing regular reports on regulatory activities and escalating material issues when necessary
Requirements:
  • 8-12yrs+ PQE financial markets lawyer with experience covering derivatives, FICC and/or swaps products
  • Experience operating at a senior level in financial markets from an in-house, private practice or regulatory context
  • Understanding of legal, operational, compliance and regulatory issues arising in financial markets
  • Experience dealing with regulators, lawyers and market participants, demonstrating ability to leverage personal and professional networks
  • Experience implementing corporate governance and compliance practices
  • Strong integrity, disciplined work ethic and self-starter attitude
