Job Overview

: Bechtel Corporation is seeking an experienced Subcontract Management Specialist to join our team. This role plays a critical part in the formation and administration of subcontracts, ensuring compliance with project requirements.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $160,000 per year, depending on experience.

About the Role As a Subcontract Management Specialist at Bechtel Corporation, you will be responsible for managing assigned subcontracts, maintaining progress reviews, and providing management with information regarding projected financial or technical difficulties. You will also coordinate with designated staff on operational activities affecting contractual rights and obligations, subcontract performance, and other major matters. Additionally, you will manage moderately complex contract changes by negotiating with customer personnel and obtaining settlement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implements the Supply Chain Assignment Schedule which records the Project's agreed assignment of various subcontract management tasks and the Standard Work Process Procedures applicable to Subcontract Management.
  • Manages assigned subcontracts maintaining a continual review of progress and providing management with information regarding projected financial or technical difficulties.
  • Coordinates with designated staff on operational activities affecting contractual rights and obligations, subcontract performance, and other major matters.
  • Manage moderately complex contract changes by negotiating with customer personnel and obtaining settlement.
Subcontract Formation
  • Conforms and ensures subcontract execution.
  • Directs negotiation in the commitment of subcontracts.
  • Develops and issues subcontracts and services agreements as assigned.
  • Prepares bidders' lists and pre-qualifies bidders.
  • Forms bid request packages and issues bid request packages to approved bidders.
  • Coordinates bidders' questions and answers to those questions.
  • Receives bids and evaluates bids commercially.
  • Prepares Commercial Bid Summary and recommendations.
  • Recommends and secures approvals in accordance with established procedures.
  • Prepares subcontract documents for execution.
  • Prepares and organizes assigned meetings, such as pre-bid, bid clarification, and pre-award meetings, for the purpose of ensuring complete understanding and agreement between Bechtel, the customer, and contractor on all contractual matters.
  • After reviewing plan and agenda with supervisor, conducts meeting and prepares and issues meeting notes delineating important statements, required actions, and schedules.
Requirements To be successful in this role, you will need to have a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience. You should also possess proficiency in all phases of the formation and award of large, moderately complex construction contracts and services contracts. Furthermore, you should have broad experience in contracts administration, developing various contract types and associated pricing arrangements, and working knowledge of change management procedures pertaining to Requests for Information (RFIs), change notices, change orders, amendments, and claims and dispute resolution.
