About the Role

This is a Permanent Full-Time position at 80 hours per fortnight within the Quality Department. You will be responsible for leading the identification, triage and review of patient safety events. You will play an essential role in supporting and connecting patient safety principles through our clinical divisions including; leadership in recognition and reporting of patient safety events, ensuring contemporary review practices and embedding learnings to ensure RCH continuously improves the care of our patients and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor trends relating to patient safety across RCH working with divisional partners to ensure high quality, safe care.
  • Support teams across RCH in the use of the Victorian Incident Management System (VHIMS).
  • Work with all RCH patients, families and staff to ensure a just and open culture.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field and/or significant relevant industry experience.
  • Proven leadership experience in a team environment and ability to work well as a senior team member.
  • Proven experience in the review of adverse patient safety events including the development of the systems to support patient safety.

About the Department

The RCH Quality team is dynamic and collaborative, supporting patient safety, patient experience and clinical excellence systems and processes across the health service. The Quality Department supports clinical governance processes, coordinates accreditation against the National Safety and Quality Health Service standards and provides expert advice to staff on matters relating to patient safety and patient experience.
