Early Childhood Support Specialist

This is an exceptional opportunity to empower the independence of First Nations children with disabilities.

The key focus of this role will be working with First Nations children with disabilities and developmental delays, and their families, to determine the best supports for their improved independence, social participation, and quality of life.

The specialist will also connect with the local community to build networks and pathways that create inclusion opportunities for First Nations children with disabilities and their families to access Early Childhood Services.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish relationships with local First Nations communities and engage with First Nations people to understand their needs.
  • Provide support to First Nations families and connect them with resources and services.
  • Knowledge of developmental milestones for children aged 0-9 years.
  • Ability to promote a culturally safe work environment.

The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of typical childhood development, disability, and developmental delay on a First Nations child and their family. They will also have experience in connecting and building working relationships with local community and mainstream services.

The role involves some travel to meet the children and their families/carers in their community and home environment.
