GIS Lead Job Description

We are seeking an experienced GIS professional to work on a high-profile railway project. This role is based in our North Sydney Office.

  • This position involves programmatically manipulating geospatial datasets, including satellite imagery and vector datasets.
  • The successful candidate will manage spatial data, including importing, maintaining, and validating large geospatial datasets provided by clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage spatial data with input from internal teams, including design, construction, and environmental departments.
  • Prepare data to meet client technical specifications for digital deliverables, ensuring compliance with planning and construction requirements.
  • Produce drawings and data to support construction planning.
  • Coordinate with survey teams to convert data into appropriate GIS formats.
  • Attend meetings and workshops with external stakeholders to align on deliverable expectations.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of GIS experience.
  • Diploma or degree in spatial sciences, geospatial disciplines, construction, design, or engineering.
  • Proficiency with Esri and QGIS software systems.
  • Experience interfacing with and converting file formats from various design software packages (e.g., AutoCAD, 12D).
  • Skills in Python, FME, or SQL are advantageous.
  • Excellent facilitation and communication abilities.
  • Experience in data management, including operations, quality, and security.
