About the Role

The Rockhampton Grammar School is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead its Outdoor Education Program. As the Head of Department for Outdoor Education, you will be responsible for designing and overseeing a comprehensive program that challenges students physically and mentally while encouraging teamwork and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and mentor the outdoor education team to foster a culture of professional growth.
  • Develop and implement outdoor education programs across Prep to Year 12, with a focus on leadership and character development.
  • Ensure all outdoor programs meet the highest safety standards and compliance requirements.
  • Oversee risk management processes and maintain all outdoor equipment and facilities.
  • Deliver quality teaching and learning, reflective of your leadership standing within the school community.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate strong leadership in outdoor education, with a passion for student development and safety. You will hold relevant outdoor education qualifications, including Wilderness or Remote Area First Aid certification, and be registered with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) or eligible for registration.

You will have demonstrated experience in leading a range of outdoor activities, such as bushwalking, canoeing, sea kayaking, abseiling, and ropes courses. You will also bring expertise in risk management and safety protocols for outdoor programs, as well as a growth mindset, a global and regional outlook, and a passion for outdoor recreation.
