The Senior Financial Reporting Specialist will support the Australian Financial Reporting team in delivering high-quality financial reporting services to our diverse range of investment manager and superannuation fund clients.

  • Establish strong client relationships to ensure all requirements are met and the team can build further relationships.
  • Manage new client onboarding processes as it relates to financial reporting and tax in conjunction with other teams.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for:

  1. Providing exceptional client service as the first point of contact for accounting and tax queries.
  2. Reviewing financial statements and templates to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  3. Identifying areas for improvement in current core processes and procedures, ensuring they are updated with changes in regulations and industry trends.
  4. Delivering training and coaching to junior team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  5. Working closely with other teams to achieve client reporting objectives, including Unit Pricing, Business Process Analysts, Client Services, Operations, and Technology.
  6. Collaborating with the Financial Reporting and Tax Manager on new product developments and process improvement projects.
  7. Providing oversight of off-shore teams' output and performance.
  8. Maintaining sufficient risk management controls and adhering to Northern Trust's compliance standards.
Requirements and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Experience working within a custodian, superannuation fund, or investment manager accounting/tax team.
  • A strong technical understanding and practical application of accounting and tax concepts related to Managed Investment Schemes (MIS) and Superannuation funds.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Australian Accounting Standards as they relate to MIS and Superannuation funds, and different assets they invest in.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Australian Tax rules as they relate to MIS and Superannuation funds, and different trust structures and entity types.
  • Strong Excel skills and proficiency in utilizing financial statements and tax reporting system tools.
  • An Accounting/Commerce/Finance degree qualification, ideally with a CA or CPA.
  • Demonstrated relevant experience in a similar role.
