About the Role

The APS is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Procurement Manager to join our team in delivering complex procurement and contracting solutions within an integrated workforce.

As a key member of our team, you will be accountable for ensuring compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making, and Defence's mission and policy requirements.

You will work independently with reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes of your work, exercising initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and the application of practices and procedures.

Stakeholder engagement is a critical aspect of this role, involving interaction with stakeholders to discuss complex issues, identifying, anticipating, and responding to stakeholders' needs and expectations to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes.

You will contribute to the strategic planning and project management of the Aviation C4ISREW & Training Support Systems (ACTSS) and be responsible for a subordinate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct procurement activities in support of ACTSS capability support requirements and manage those activities to meet deadlines within the stated financial terms.
  • Coordinate and provide procurement policy advice, assistance, products, and services to facilitate risk management, ethics, and probity.
  • Apply knowledge to deliver procurement policy-related products and services relating to the procurement lifecycle.
  • Engage and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders relating to the Commonwealth Procurement Framework to manage procurement risks and achieve value for money.
  • Build and sustain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and actively participate in team work and group activities to deliver agreed outcomes.
  • Take the initiative to identify impacts of changes to relevant Commonwealth procurement policies and recommend potential improvements to procurement practices.
  • Interpret, recommend, and provide advice and assistance on procurement policy and identify alternative courses of action where appropriate.

About Our Team

The Army Aviation Systems Branch (AASB) purpose is to deliver military aviation systems to the capability managers. AASB is responsible for the acquisition and through-life support of all Army helicopters and tactical unmanned aerial systems through both Project Offices (PO) and Systems Program Offices (SPO) within Australia and overseas.

Join the Utility Helicopter Systems Program Office (UHSPO) and be a part of a team dedicated to enhancing the Australian Army's helicopter capability through the acquisition of 40 UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters.
