About the court of Victoria
The County Court of Victoria is a leading trial court in the state of Victoria. It has original and appellate jurisdiction and hears over 11,000 cases each year.
The Commercial Division handles disputes concerning debts, claims for damages, property, trusts, and some appeals. It has 6 judges, 2 judicial registrars, and a dedicated Commercial Registry.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Liaise with parties and legal practitioners to resolve issues and address barriers to case progression.
- Prepare draft orders and contribute to process development to improve service delivery.
This role provides an excellent insight into the civil litigation process and offers opportunities for progression.
You will work in close collaboration with judges and judicial registrars, providing analysis and preparing case management advice.
As a Deputy Registrar, you will perform legal, quasi-judicial, and administrative functions as required under acts, rules, and regulations.
**Requirements:**
- Excellent attention to detail and written communication skills.
- Ability to interpret relevant legislation, regulations, policies, and processes.
- Hard-working and ability to develop effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
