About the Role

The State of Queensland is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director to lead the Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Branch. This is a critical role that requires a strong understanding of public health policy and contemporary mental health service delivery models.

The successful candidate will have extensive expertise in public health policy and a deep understanding of the Mental Health Act 2016. They will be able to apply this knowledge to policy development and strategic initiatives, driving the highest standard of service delivery for mental health, alcohol, and drug treatment programs across Queensland.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the strategic direction for mental health, alcohol, and other drug treatment policy, programs, and services.
  • Develop and refine Queensland's mental health and substance abuse treatment policies.
  • Oversee the execution of state and national reforms in mental health and substance abuse treatment.
  • Guide the integration of cutting-edge data collection and reporting systems.
  • Champion the development of innovative initiatives and programs.
Requirements
  • Extensive expertise in public health policy and a deep understanding of the Mental Health Act 2016.
  • Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated capacity to influence and drive the implementation of complex health reforms.
  • Senior-level experience in managing and guiding multidisciplinary teams.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in public sector management or a related field.
