Job Summary
  • As a Mortuary and Funerals Director Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that deceased individuals are treated with dignity and respect throughout the preparation and presentation process.

Responsibilities include body preparation procedures such as washing, dressing, suturing, and setting facial features, as well as encoffining and presenting the deceased according to family requests. You will also handle the deceased with care and respect at all times, accurately complete mortuary registration and checking procedures, maintain and clean mortuary facilities and equipment, and perform coffin/casket trimming and engraving.

Requirements
  • You should be comfortable working within a funeral environment and possess sensitivity and comfort when dealing with grieving people and their values and beliefs.
  • Holding an understanding of the funeral service industry and its operations is essential, or the ability to rapidly acquire this knowledge.
  • Experience in a mortuary or similar environment is desirable, along with strong attention to detail and the ability to follow direction.
  • You should be able to work as part of a team and on your own initiative, while carrying out duties safely and in accordance with WHS/OHS guidelines.
