Job Title: Court Assessment and Prosecutions Officer

This is an ongoing, full-time role based in Warrnambool. The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include reference checks, national police checks and misconduct screening.

  • Help contribute to community safety by applying expert risk assessment practices.

The Department of Justice and Community Safety contributes to the safety of the community by applying practices that reduce reoffending and connect individuals to programs, services and community supports.

About the Role:

Supporting the operation of the Court Assessment and Prosecutions Service, this position requires the application of relevant work practices. This includes conducting initial assessments, variations or prosecution against an individual's court order.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide timely, high-quality, evidence-based advice to stakeholders.
  • Undertake an effective assessment of an individual's risk to community safety.
  • Effectively manage individuals exhibiting challenging behaviours.
  • Produce detailed reports and other standard documents in line with procedural guidelines.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience or knowledge of court processes and prosecutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide human services in needs assessments and development of interventions.
  • Pays attention to words, expression and body language; recognises behaviours that promote a culture of inclusion.
  • Resolves issues through deep understanding or interpretation of existing guidelines.

Working Conditions:

Some travel may be required across the South West region as part of this role.
