Overview


Water security is a pressing concern in Southeast Queensland. As a key player in the region's water management, you will be responsible for leading modelling assessments to ensure water security across the area. This role involves collaborating with internal and external technical subject matter experts to analyze modelling outcomes related to regulated Level of Service objectives, yield assessments, and water storage capacities to support long-term water planning.

As a Senior Water Security Modeller, you will be expected to maintain accurate, reliable, and fit-for-purpose water supply models that address the specific needs of the region. You will also seek opportunities to improve and coordinate new model development with government stakeholders, implementing innovative solutions and methodologies to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of water security assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and apply advanced modelling tools, techniques, and methodologies to analyze outcomes, improve model development, and implement innovative solutions that enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of water security assessments.
  • Provide expert advice on water security modelling outcomes to support business case development, stakeholder initiatives, and long-term water planning.
  • Coordinate and manage significant water supply modelling projects within multi-functional teams to develop least-cost optimisation strategies.
  • Ensure water supply models are accurate, reliable, and fit-for-purpose by managing a modelling assurance framework.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • A tertiary qualification in Science, Maths, or Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional modelling experience, including extensive data analysis and interpretation of modelling results.
  • Proven expertise in stochastic modelling for large and complex systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-functional project teams and translate water security impacts into business case development.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with experience preparing technical reports and advising internal and external stakeholders.
