Role Overview

The Sonographer Trainee Clinician is a healthcare professional who is completing a postgraduate diploma in medical ultrasound under the supervision of experienced sonographers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing medical imaging services aligned with training and experience, within a multidisciplinary team, in accordance with professional standards and local protocols.
  • Applying clinical judgment to make decisions, with increasing independence, under the guidance of senior clinicians.

  • With experience in medical ultrasound, you will apply more complex clinical judgment to decision-making.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Vaccination against certain vaccine-preventable diseases is mandatory.
  • Hold at least a tertiary degree qualification enabling enrolment in a Postgraduate Medical Ultrasound program accredited by the Australasian Sonographer Accreditation Register.
  • Registration as a student sonographer with the Australasian Sonographer Accreditation Register is required.

If a Radiographer, you must also have:

  • Current registration with AHPRA.
  • A Licence to Use Irradiating Apparatus issued by Radiation Health, Queensland.
